WELCOME TO MY BLOG

Hello friends, family, sponsors & clients!
I am so excited to start this summer 2013. Thank you for all of your support as I accomplish my race goals. Check out the calendar of events and join me on race day, or you can check this blog to see my posted results. I am so blessed to have a healthy body after having two children and look forward to many more races in the future! I so appreciate those of you that sponsored me in 2011. It was a successful year! I placed 3rd in my age group in the Grapevine Triathlon and 8th overall female with a time of 1:22 for the sprint distance. I took 1st place overall female, 3rd overall male and female in the Indoor Lifetime Sprint Triathlon, and placed 5th in my age group at the Austin Olympic Triathlon with a time of 2:59, which I plan to beat this year! I placed 1st in the Roc the Doc 5k for the second year in a row, and then ran the Azalea 10k for the second time- 6 months pregnant! I ran that with my brother Ben and Sister Sarah- who pushed a stroller with a baby. Check out the pics! The last 2 years have flown by as I have been so busy with two children now. But things are starting to get back to normal and I am feeling more myself.... I am READY TO RUN!

Beautiful Day!

Wow the weather was so great today! I ran sprints today with my neighbor Jessica. I just did a mile to warm up and then we did sprints together while our daughters played on the play ground. My left knee has been hurting so I went a little easier today. Yesterday after I taught water aerobics I ran for 20 minutes on the tred mill as a trial to see how many miles I could do. My goal for the April sprint triathlon is to do 3 miles in 20 minutes. That is less than a seven minute mile. Yesterday I did 2.73 miles in 20 minutes so I am not too far off. I ran it at 8 miles an hour untill the last mile and then I increased my speed up to 9.5. I swam 350meters in about 5 minutes after that. My goal for my swim is to do around 500m for 10 minutes. At the Stonebridge Traithlon last summer I did the 350m swim in 8 minutes! Tomarrow I am going to run at celebration park after my yoga class with Julia, and then I teach cycle in the evening. whew! It has been a lot of work this week. Lets see... by the end of this week I will have worked out about 13 times. That is including teaching my group exercise classes. I have been really trying to work at my diet lately too. Cutting back on my portion sizes and on my carbs. I have been trying to eat more for breakfast and snack more often during the day. It helps that I do this allready with Emma (my 1 year old). Up untill the night before my race I will be eating very well and then I will carb load. I only have one week before my 10k!  (The 26th in Tyler ) I had better get some long distance in! Wish me luck!
Remember the deadline to be able to get your name or company on my race shirt as a sponser is coming up! I still need $180 to pay for race fees and the shirt. Once I have reached that goal I will put the rest of the money towards Angelman syndrome foundation. I will be having the shirt made THURSDAY at the LATEST, so dont miss out! If I dont receive the donation before then, your name or comany wont be on my shirt for this summer. Thank you for your support!

  1. Hey Katie!!! Just wanted to say you are doing an AWESOME job!! 13 times in one week! geeze! I've been down to like 1 or 2 times a week. I'm so ready to get back in the game and now that I'm getting a bike we'll have to go on long rides together!!!! I so want to do the 10K with you, but we are hosting the elder's quarm craw fish here at our house from 11-1. And isn't Tyler about a 2 hour drive? Cody wouldn't be too happy if I abandon him that morning.:( Good luck though!! Come on over next week and we can do long runs here!! or at another park too! p.s. this is my blog if you ever wanna check it out! www.codyandjulia.blogspot.com
