WELCOME TO MY BLOG

Hello friends, family, sponsors & clients!
I am so excited to start this summer 2013. Thank you for all of your support as I accomplish my race goals. Check out the calendar of events and join me on race day, or you can check this blog to see my posted results. I am so blessed to have a healthy body after having two children and look forward to many more races in the future! I so appreciate those of you that sponsored me in 2011. It was a successful year! I placed 3rd in my age group in the Grapevine Triathlon and 8th overall female with a time of 1:22 for the sprint distance. I took 1st place overall female, 3rd overall male and female in the Indoor Lifetime Sprint Triathlon, and placed 5th in my age group at the Austin Olympic Triathlon with a time of 2:59, which I plan to beat this year! I placed 1st in the Roc the Doc 5k for the second year in a row, and then ran the Azalea 10k for the second time- 6 months pregnant! I ran that with my brother Ben and Sister Sarah- who pushed a stroller with a baby. Check out the pics! The last 2 years have flown by as I have been so busy with two children now. But things are starting to get back to normal and I am feeling more myself.... I am READY TO RUN!

Life Time Indoor Tri

"I tried the indoor tri"
It was a lot of fun and not so competitive. I would definately suggest it to any one who is interested in doing a tri for the first time because you go at your own pace and no one gets left behind!
We were allotted certain time frames to complete as much distance as possible for each component of the race. 10 min swim, 30 min bike, and 20 min run.
My goals were to do 500m swim, 10-12 mile bike, and 3 mile run (this was a pretty huge goal and caused my shin splints before my 10K race)
I accomplished my goals ALMOST.
Results will be posted on the indoor tri website, however Craig helped me keep track of them pretty well.
I completed 575m swim, 15.4 mile bike and 2.68 mile run.
The run of coarse is always my weakest point. I had done a trial run on the tred mill previously and had kept an 8.0mph pace until the last minute when I sprinted. This morning however I decided to start off stronger so as to try to get my 3 mile goal. I started at 8.5mph and by the second mile had to slow down because I was completely pooped and my legs were feeling like lead weights. By the last few minutes I gained speed again and finished at 10 mph! Which is my fastest! I finished hard and strong and I am proud of that. When the timer went off I hit the stop button and jumped to the side dropping my head down on the tred mill to catch my breath. whew! I then got some breakfast and went home to shower. I tried to take a nap but Emma was crawling all over me and spilling tater tots all over my bed. So I got up and went to La Fitness to teach Yoga, Then went to school for a gruesome 5 hours. Then Craig and Emma met me at Olive Garden for dinner and now we are finally home. (I should be studying for my test tomarrow but instead I am on my blog. =)
I really had a fun experience though and hope that in October I can recruit some of my family members and friends to join me! Well... now it is time to get serious in my training because June I have a sprint and September is the Olympic distance! Whew! Wish me luck!

About me

I am a fitness enthusiast, triathlete, group exercise instructor, wife, sister, Mother, a cook (Pampered Chef Consultant) and many others. I have been working in the fitness industry for four years and have taught swimming, gymnastics and currently teach group exercise. I am a student working on a double major in Physical Education and Sports Management. I hope to do an Iron Man one day, however family comes first so that day might be a few years away. I love my family, my husband Craig and my one year old daughter Emma, as well as our parents and siblings who show continuous love and support. Since I love to cook and enjoy learning about nutrition I also sell Pampered Chef. My website is http://www.pamperedchef.biz/kookinKT

I belong to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I teach the Young Women ages 12-18, and I love this calling! Along with fitness, I also love music and I sing often in my church. Well I think that is enough about me for now, but if you follow my blog you will learn more!
